Club designer is a fashion boutique occupying a 100m² site. The requirement calls for a design that would house a rotating collection of several clothing brands while providing a comfortable environment for regular costumers to sit and chat. The design goal is to ‘domesticate’ a regular shop environment by providing a ‘living room’ for shopping. The idea is to create an inner shell that wraps the entire perimeter of the shop. The shell consists of a series of regulated openings. Each opening acts as a kind of proscenium so that on the interior it allows for the proper viewing of the clothing on display. And as it faces the exterior, it allows the storefront to ‘frame’ the various objects on display. In addition, the shell allows for the in-direct lighting of the entire perimeter. Finally, the shell acts as an inner shelter providing comfort and intimacy for the ‘living room’ area, with a Florence Knoll inspired sofa. ©copyright HO + HOU Studio Architects
