The wishes of the client calls for generous living and dinning spaces, a connecting family/entertainment area, a unique kitchen/breakfast area, and three bedrooms. The plan exposes one corner of the apartment to the dinning and living areas. Walls are finished in a series of grey tonal paints and bleached African teak veneers while the floor is finished in stained walnut. These finishes compliment the selection of classic contemporary furniture. The kitchen allowed for a double island set-up with a comfortable breakfast area. The color scheme of white kitchen cabinets with grey tiled floor marks a distinct contrasts of warm color tones with the rest of the apartment. A special feature of the living and the family rooms is the fresh and salt water aquariums located in the respected spaces. These are designed as frameless shimmering light boxes that adorn the wall of the living room and the display/book cabinet of the family rooms. In the master-bathroom the color scheme of grey and white reappears, albeit in more refined materials. The polished white carrara marble contrasts with the honed grey granite. ©copyright HO + HOU Studio Architects
