Exhibition Design Statement

This exhibition design seeks to respond to some of architect Wang’s architectural ideas - her use of geometric volumes and linear expression, the emphasis on fluid circulation, and the consideration of natural ventilation suited to a southern island climate. Through spatial translation, her architectural philosophy is transformed into an experiential exhibition environment.

A. 1F Exhibition Area | Geometry × Flow
The first-floor exhibition originates from the concepts of flow and geometric form.Taking the triangle, a recurring element in Wang’s architectural façades, as the starting point, the design evolves into 18 distinct three-dimensional display modules. These modular units can be reassembled and reconfigured according to different exhibition venu. The combination of the triangle units forms a rhythmic and flowing exhibition space. Circulation flows naturally, allowing visitors to navigate intuitively while experiencing a sense of spatial continuity.

B. 2F Exhibition Area | Scenario × Memory
The second-floor exhibition adopts a scenario-based presentation, organized into two thematic sections :

1. “Hsiu-Shan Architects Studio” :
Centered around the original drawing cabinets from Architect Wang Hsiu-Lien’s office, this area incorporates reference books, drafting tools, and hand-drawn construction drawings.
By reconstructing the studio atmosphere, the exhibition reveals the and offering insight into the intellectual and material processes of design.

2. “Daughter of Tainan” Section :
This section presents Wang Hsiu-Lien’s formative years and historical context. Through archival materials, photographs, and narrative texts, visitors are invited to understand the cultural and background that she grow up with.

C. Outdoor Exhibition Area | Memory × Transformation
The outdoor exhibition area features sculptural works created from the iron railings of Wang Hsiu-Lien’s former residence.
